Oven and Range Repair in Charlotte, NC

When the oven won't heat or a burner won't light, dinner plans change. We repair gas and electric ovens, ranges, stoves and wall ovens in homes and businesses across Charlotte, NC and nearby towns.

The common causes are a burned-out bake element, a weak gas igniter, a bad temperature sensor, or a failed switch or control. We test the parts, show you the problem, and quote the repair.

Common oven or range problems we fix

These are the likely causes, not a diagnosis. We confirm the cause with tests before we replace any part.

Electric oven won't heat

Likely cause
A burned-out bake or broil element (you may see a break or blister on it), a failed temperature sensor, or a bad relay on the control board.
What we do
We test the elements, the sensor and the control outputs with a meter and replace the failed part.

Gas oven won't heat, or heats very slowly

Likely cause
A weak igniter. It glows, but not hot enough to open the gas valve. This is one of the most common gas oven repairs.
What we do
We measure the igniter's current draw, check the gas safety valve, and replace the igniter if it is weak.

Wrong temperature, food burns or comes out raw

Likely cause
A failing temperature sensor, a control that needs calibrating, or a door that does not seal.
What we do
We check the oven with our own thermometer, test the sensor, and check the door gasket and hinges.

Gas burner won't light, or keeps clicking

Likely cause
Spills in the burner ports, a wet or cracked spark igniter, a burner cap out of place, or a failed spark switch.
What we do
We clean the burner, seat the cap, and test the igniter, spark module and switches.

Electric burner won't heat, or only works on high

Likely cause
A failed element, a burned receptacle, or a bad burner control switch.
What we do
We test the element, the receptacle and the switch for that burner.

Door stuck locked after self-clean

Likely cause
The door lock motor or switch failed, or a thermal fuse blew during the cycle's high heat.
What we do
We let it cool, release the lock, and test the lock assembly and fuse.

Error code on the display

Likely cause
Codes usually point to the temperature sensor, the door lock or the control board.
What we do
Tell us the code when you book. We test the part the code points to before we replace anything.

Gas and oven safety

  • If you smell gas, leave the home now. Do not flip light switches or use your phone inside. Call your gas company's emergency line or 911 from outside.
  • Never use the oven or stovetop to heat your home. It can fill the home with carbon monoxide.
  • Every home with gas appliances should have a working carbon monoxide alarm.
  • If an element sparks or flames up, turn the oven off and switch off its breaker. Do not use it again until it is repaired.

Quick checks before you book

  • Check the breaker. Electric ranges use a double breaker.
  • Make sure the oven is not set to delay start, Sabbath mode or control lock.
  • Burner won't light after a spill? Let it dry fully and check that the cap sits flat.
  • Look at the bake element. A visible break or blister means it has failed.

What we work on

  • Freestanding and slide-in ranges: gas, electric and dual fuel
  • Single and double wall ovens, gas and electric
  • Pizza ovens
  • Gas stoves and electric coil stoves
  • Convection ovens

Oven and range repair questions

Why does my gas oven take so long to heat up?

The most common reason is a weak igniter. It still glows, but it does not draw enough current to open the gas valve quickly, so the oven heats slowly or not at all. It is a common, fixable repair.

Is it safe to use the self-clean cycle?

It is safe when the oven is in good shape, but the cycle runs very hot, and that is when weak parts like thermal fuses and door locks tend to fail. Wipe out heavy spills first, stay home while it runs, and avoid running it right before you need the oven for a big meal.

Why is my oven temperature off?

A failing temperature sensor or a control that needs calibrating are the usual causes. An oven thermometer on the middle rack tells you how far off it is. Many ovens let you adjust the temperature offset in the settings.

Do you repair both gas and electric ranges?

Yes. We work on gas and electric ranges, stoves, wall ovens and double ovens.

Can I keep using the stovetop if the oven is broken?

Often yes, if the problem is only in the oven and nothing smells, sparks or leaks. If you smell gas or see sparks, stop using the whole range.
