Refrigerator repair across Charlotte, from Uptown condos to Steele Creek garages

Charlotte summers are long, hot and humid, and that is when refrigerators work hardest. A fridge that kept up fine in March can start running warm in July, especially in a garage or a kitchen that gets afternoon sun.

We repair refrigerators in houses, townhomes and apartments all over Charlotte. Here is what we tend to see in different parts of the city.

Garage refrigerators and freezers

Lots of Charlotte homes, from Steele Creek to University City, keep a second fridge or freezer in the garage. Most refrigerators are built for indoor temperatures. In a hot garage they run nonstop and wear out faster. In a cold snap, a fridge with one thermostat can stop running, and the freezer section thaws.

If your garage fridge acts up with the weather, tell us when you book. Sometimes the fix is a part. Sometimes it is a move indoors.

Condos and apartments in Uptown and South End

In high-rise and mid-rise buildings, we plan around parking, loading docks and elevator rules. Counter-depth and compact refrigerators are common in these kitchens, and they often sit in tight cabinet openings with little room for air to move around the coils.

Older homes in Dilworth, Myers Park and Plaza Midwood

Many kitchens in these early 1900s neighborhoods were built for smaller refrigerators. A fridge boxed in with no room to breathe runs hot. We check the clearance and the condenser coils, not only the part that failed.

Newer homes in Ballantyne and University City

French door and side-by-side refrigerators with ice and water in the door are the norm in newer houses. They add a water line, an inlet valve and a filter, and those are common sources of leaks and dispenser problems.

Refrigerator repair in Charlotte: questions

My garage freezer stopped working when it got cold. Is it broken?

Maybe not. Many refrigerators use one thermostat in the fridge section. When the garage gets cold, that section feels cold enough, the compressor stops, and the freezer slowly thaws. Some models have a garage kit or setting. We can tell you which case you have.

I rent in Charlotte. Can I book a refrigerator repair myself?

Yes, but check your lease first. In many Charlotte rentals the owner is responsible for appliance repairs and may want to approve the work or pay for it directly. Landlords and property managers can book with us too.

Do you cover my part of Charlotte?

We cover all of Charlotte, including Uptown, South End, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Dilworth, Myers Park, SouthPark, Ballantyne, University City and Steele Creek.
